  • Glogster

    by
There are two versions of Glogster.  Open source Glogster and EDU Glogster.
On both versions, students can create digital posters that are dynamic and interactive.
In the EDU version,  students are kept together by class so that they may collaborate in
a safe and secure virtual classroom.   A teacher can register up to 200 students in the
    Glogster EDU Basic version.
In the open version of Glogster, students can collaborate with any user that has
    registered.

  • Pixton Comics

    by

Students can use this web 2.0 tool to create comic strips.  A student can sign up for free

but a better method would be to have the teacher sign up at Pixton for Schools so that

the class members can collaborate without interferance from the general public.

There is a small fee for Pixton for Schools;  per user and per month can be as low as

    12cents per month.

  • Storybird

    by
Storybird is an online service that allows you to create virtual storybooks with words

and pictures.    Soon to release teacher accounts.   Until they are released a teacher can

    do the following:

    1. Set everyone up on your account: one username, one email, multiple
users. It's messy but thousands of teachers are using this approach right now.

    2. Many teachers have set up two accounts: one teacher and one "class" account
(the class account email is typically a secondary Gmail account or something similar).
The students then share the class account since one account can have simultaneous users
    and Storybirds in play.

    3. If you have the kids sign up using the parental tool, you can have multiple accounts attached to one email. Have them sign up here:

  • Wikispace

    by
Teachers can set up an advertisement free wikispace on which they can collaborate
with students.  Use the discussion tab on each page to post discussion topics for students
to respond.  Students can also edit, post, and work on each page.
Students can sign up for a wiki account and request to join the teacher's wikispace OR
a .csv file can be uploaded so that students do not need an email account to join.
suggestion:  usernames and passwords could be the same as those they use for
    Powerschool.
