Edgewood Elementary School

Edgewood School

Edgewood Elementary School commemorated 50 years of excellence educating and caring for children on May 23, 2007.  The  program consisted of  a presentation from each grade that Treasured our Past, Celebrated our Present and allowed us to Dream of our future!

Fifty years ago the history of Edgewood Elementary School began when the Ridley Township School Board bought an 8 acre site in 1954 with the intent to build a six classroom school.  When many twin houses started to spring up in the neighborhood, it was decided  to add 6 more classrooms and the school was ready in January 1957.  The whole project cost $887, 899.  In 1966 an addition was added to provide kindergartens, library and other classrooms.  By 1968 the whole school was renovated and looks much the same as it does now.  Of course there have been many upgrades physically since then such as safety, technology, curriculum and instruction. However the bond among our Edgewood community and our dedicated staff is the real celebration and will continue long past the physical structure of the building.
